Trackback to Huffington Post

Arianna Huffington and I disagree on a lot, but I do think she is a good journalist/blogger. I searched for popular blogs and saw that her's was the most popular and saw a story on it that caught my eye. The story, "Michelle Obama: No Facebook For My Girls" explains the First Lady's stance on Facebook and how she is not allowing it for her young children. I like this stance because it shows that she cares about their image and privacy while living in the White House. I also like how she did not speak on behalf of all mothers (unlike she is so quick to do with the diet choices of children and their parents).

The Force

I suppose this commercial will stick with a movie-theme for my blog, but in terms of marketing and advertising this commercial won me over. I am a huge Star Wars fan to begin with and thought the approach of the commercial was appealing to many different audiences with the cuteness, cleverness and humor. In addition to it being an entertaining commercial, I had no previous idea that Volkswagen Passats were so cheap, my friend drives one and it is nice.

The Social Network

I deleted my Facebook account in early September. I have always hated facebook and consider it one of the best decisions I have made in college. It was addicting, annoying, and in my case only caused problems. I loved and hated knowing what everyone was doing before I talked to them, but since the deletion enjoy finding out by talking to them much more then just glancing at their facebook page to find out about their weekend.
With my new exploring the internet class being the driving force behind this blog, and learning about social media, I decided last night to get into the Oscar buzz and watch "The Social Network."
It was awesome. I love Aaron Sorkin who wrote the screenplay and the movie really got me thinking into how smart and ambitious students at Harvard and other prestigious schools are. It then made me realize I should try harder in school, hence this portion of the overall assignment due Feb 2 being completed now and not an hour before class, a habit that has followed me all through college.
I think I will blog about other nominated films for the 2010 Academy Awards and eventually try to watch all of the Best Picture winners from years past.
I hope this is enough.
